some practice for the mock exam

SOME EXAM TIPS

What you should and shouldn't do

1.It may sound stupid, but don't forget to read the instructions and make sure you know what you are being asked to do.

2. In the case of fill-in-the gaps test, look at the text before and after each gap.

3. If you don't know the correct answer, you should always make a guess. Don't leave the answer sheet blank for any question.

4. Never leave the room early. If you have time at the end, go over your work. You can't return if you suddenly remember a fact after you have left.

5. In the case of multiple choice questions: do not spend too long on them. Try to think of your own answer first before looking at the answers listed on the page.

6. Start with the easy questions. Do not get stuck on difficult ones, but put those questions aside and return to them later.

7. Ask the teacher if you have any question before starting the exam.

Tips for the speaking test

1.If you are asked to talk about or describe a photograph, don't get too hung up on describing every visible detail. Instead, be prepared to speak in general terms about it and how the theme it illustrates affects you.

Tips for the listening test

1. Nearly right is not the same thing as right. If you hear: 'She may be late' and the question says: 'She will be late'- this is not an exact match and consequently could easily be the wrong answer. It has to be 100% accurate to be right.

And remember

Have a relaxing night before your exams and try to have a healthy breakfast in the morning.
